As much as I like to bounce from house to house meeting new people and seeing new homes, There are times where a project arrives and sometimes working on a home that can take many months and sometimes years finish can be just as appealing for awhile. Every square inch of this home was meticulously worked on in one way or another which completely transformed the look of this amazing lake house with a spectacular view.
This house was purchased knowing this house had more potential to show and the view of the lake out the window of the great room was one in a million. When we walked into this house it had the cabin feel to it. It was an amazing home for anybody that was looking for just that in their lake house, but this home owner had a different vision. We took it to its bones and started over. I wish that part would have been as easy as saying it. 5000 sq foot of it was taken to the studs and then some.
A great friend and contractor of mine, that I have tackled many jobs together with over the years, decided to take on this project with all of our focus. This project was 2.5 hours from our homes in the twin cities so we stayed many nights away from home to finish this project most efficiently and effectively. The home owner, who resides out of state, trusted in the two of us to come up with the best team for this project, as many contractors were needed to to fulfill this project in a timely manner while still being able to take time to really make every room a special experience to walk through and see what all the hard work was about.
After demoing and re-designing every room of this house we were able to start putting this back together with a completely changed look. More modern, brighter color scheme, and let’s fancy with it. From the second you pull into the drive way its like a completely different house than it was in 2021. The exterior of this house got an all new paint job (window casings coming soon…). All exterior doors were replaced with beautiful walnut doors. All new stone around entryway and around the bottom side of home. Even the chimney was re-wrapped in stone to match. Updated light fixtures, cameras, and speakers this home has options and a lot of them. The roof was all re-done with a high quality shingle color that compliments the rest of the house. All roof peak beams were replaced with older, bigger, better beams making this home worth stopping and staring at for awhile. The list of exterior work goes on and on. If it didn’t match what was on the color pallet it got changed. Going over pictures after this project was wrapped up that mind set made this masterpiece even more satisfying.
All of the same rules applied for the inside of this home. As soon as you walk through that oversized walnut door into the entryway you see the highest quality of craftsmanship, design and straight out the window ahead of you is nature creating its own beauty with a Minnesota lake. Ive been in this home day and night and both are two different experiences providing two different looks. The elegant lighting in this house, all dim-able, all artistic in their design, casts a different view of what a home can look and feel like after the sun goes down. Cabinetry, flooring, framing, drywall, counter tops, paint, tile, plumbing, If you can think of it then it probably happened. Heated floors through out the home (and heated toilet seats) and two massive fireplaces keep this home as cozy as needed through the harsh winters and windows and shades controlled by the push of a button can be a classy option during the summer. I could really talk forever about this home, but I will let the pictures do the talking.
