This was a project where design, meets proper preparation/placement, meets combustible/non-combustible materials. This was such a fun project with a lot of thought that needed to go into each step. Framing out and closing up a gas fireplace is something that should be done carefully with the reassurance that once it’s closed up it will be safe for the entirity of it life. When I walked onto this project the main level living area had a “just for looks” non functioning fireplace set up and the basement living area didn’t have any existing fireplace at all. After I was finished, both levels had Fireside gas fireplaces installed with some really awesome features to each of them. I also had another awesome designer on this project that I teamed up with to create these two spectacular fireplaces.

The existing main level fireplace got demoed and cleaned up nicely to have have a clean slate to work with. reinsulating the exterior wall was a must before anything. I built a sturdy platform frame for the fireplace to sit on up off the floor and then had the guys at Fireside come set the fireplace and run venting and gas to the unit. I was able to then frame out this unit according to proper codes set by the state of Minnesota as well as the sketches mocked up by the always talented designer. With this everything was still open enough for an electrician to come in and install wiring and cable for the TV that was getting mounted above the fireplace. we decided to set back the TV that way the home owner had a couple cool options to either have the TV showing or two decretive sliding doors closed giving it another beautiful look to this fireplace. After everything was hooked up, tested and ready to go. I was able to start closing this unit up and started the finishing process. Such a satisfying step of the job that I never get tired of.

The basement fireplace got an awesome shiplap look to it with tons of shelving on either side of it for artsy pieces and decorations making this basement feel so homey and comfortable. Many of the same steps were taken in the process of completing this one as well. I worked with a great cabinet maker that made some very nice shelving units that I installed on each side.

These fireplace units out of Fireside here in the cities are fantastic. I would recommend to any body looking to get a great looking fireplace that can put off some serious heat if needed. Everything is temperature controlled with a wireless controller as well as many different options for the style you are looking for.

The fireplaces weren't the only thing that was happening on this project. Both stories of this home was updated and touched up in one way or another. Take a look at the rest the pictures to see what else was going on!!!
