Reconstructing the Stairway and Then Some!
This project involved all aspects of carpentry that makes this job so exciting. This homeowners hired a great team to make her dream come true. We touched every level of this home during this remodel. I can say that this remodel was very much worth the work we put into it. The initial plan was to remove and create a new stairway from the basement to the main level and then up to 2nd level with out taking as much space through out the living space. we were able to do that and more! After that was accomplished the home owner decided why stop there. From there we remodeled an out dated entire 2nd story, did some cool custom work on the main level and finished half of the basement.
The 2nd level got a total make over. Installing new windows, reconfigured the master bathroom, made a custom master walk in closet, installed an awesome shiplap accent wall with decretive windows in the master bedroom, and also made a sound proof ventilated studio booth. Just when this project couldn’t get any cooler. Rough sawn barn wood flooring was installed with oversized sliding doors that were reused from an old church as well as a hide away in wall sliding door for the bathroom. Every door in the upstairs was unique, reused and gave character to this amazing finished look. Moving and removing existing walls, adding windows for light, re-Insulating and drywalling exterior walls, trim, paint this is just a short list of what this level experienced. This one really got love in every aspect of a remodel.
The main level got WOW expression every time you walked through this home. moving the stairs really opened up the dining room area and also gave the entryway and stairway a more functional space with an awesome facelift. reconfiguring HVAC was needed in this process and then framing and wrapping it with everything the homeowner was wanting and more is what we did. Two more amazing reused doors were installed on this level as well. The main level is eventually getting a full make over in the future so we finished as much as possible until more work decides to be done in the future. Shiplap ceiling was installed, board and batten work on the entryway with the church pew, as well as the stairway that included with an awesome antique stairway sign that added that cherry on top. The homeowner was unhappy with the fact that the dining room had one too many support posts right through the middle of the room so we put up some temporary support walls, removed the old support beam and installed new LVL beams that ran all the way across the room which strengthened and supported more weight across giving us the option to remove one of the support posts opening up the space even more.
The basement got framed and finished creating 3 new rooms. Before we closed up foundation walls on this level the rim joists and foundation walls had to insulated as they were not previously. Also added another farm house sink to the room we called the “art room” which the home owner was going to use for mosaic tile projects. The family room got a really cool open joist ceiling look that was painted white, white washed the fireplace, and added a cedar closet for storing clothing which kept them in a dry environment that kept insects out of in the basement. Creating a couple finished soffits was also on the to do list to hide all the HVAC work running in the basement ceiling. Under the stairs, we added a storage area for a wine cooler with a custom cut glass door. Waterproof luxury vinyl plank flooring was installed through out the remodeled space turning this basement into a completely livable and very much enjoyable space.
